Prometheus

What movies are out - Hollywood seems not going to stop to explore the origins of human life from which derived. Terrence Malick presents the serene The Tree of Life last year and now Ridley Scott's turn to do so by Prometheus. Prometheus was the first film directed by Scott after the release of Robin Hood in 2010 and also marks the return of Scott to the genre of science fiction after in the last two decades continuously directed drama movies - which then given three nominations as the Best Director in Academy Awards event for Thelma and Louise (1991), Gladiator (2000) and Black Hawk Down (2001). Prometheus first release date is back in May 30, 2012, but it is only in Europe; Belgium, France and Switzerland. After the first release Prometheus also released in others country; starts from Europe to Asia, Australia, America and also few countries in Africa.

Prometheus himself at first planned by Scott to be the fifth part of the Alien franchise (1979 - 1997) by making this film as a direct prequel to the first series of Alien (1979). However, along with the development of script writing, and together with the inclusion of Damon Lindelof to revise the Prometheus script by Jon Spaihts, Scott then build the script of the Prometheus - which has been designed since the beginning of 2000 - to be a whole new story that stands alone. Even though we will be able to find and feel that Prometheus is in the same atmosphere with the Alien franchise story line.

Prometheus is a name inspired from the giant story of Greek mythology that seeks to minimize the space difference between humans and the gods - clearly not an ordinary science fiction movie. Through a script written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof, Ridley Scott Prometheus tried to deliver a great idea about the origin of human life on the Earth's with a variety of theories - which indirectly related to the themes of alien life. Talking about the origin of human life was clearly not an exposure that can be delivered in brief. Therein lies the weakness of Prometheus comes. As a story that contains great ideas, Prometheus managed to reconcile two points of view regarding the creation of man - the religion and the sciences - with quite well. Unfortunately, the Prometheus story narrative constantly bombard the audience with many questions but failed to be developed and given the deepening of meaning which may be presented to provide opportunity for the audience to produce their own conclusion. But it is makes the story of Prometheus weak and hang up. Simply put, Prometheus looks dashing in producing a brilliant idea, but then leaves the question of why the idea was worthy to be discussed.
